Vale Pião is a mountain small holding situated near to the town of Góis in Central Portugal.
A tranquil place, the sale consists of 2 hectares ( approx. 5 acres) of unspoiled hillside with a natural stream; a ruined house, long ago abandoned, but waiting to be restored, and, importantly, a well maintained track giving good access by quad, off road motorbike and 4 wheel drive vehicle.
Currently the land is mostly shrub, but could be worked to provide pasture for goats; or for sheep, particularly some of the traditional Portuguese breeds whose fine quality fleeces are increasingly sought by the emerging Artisan craft industry; or maybe it would make grazing for the native Garrano pony, a little horse that adapts very well to pack and farm work.
Although none exists at the moment, the provision of a building for animal shelter is permitted; also, an area of agriculture land, once cleared, will be great for growing vegetables.
There is access to a couple of river beaches, the closet about 3 kilometers away, and to several villages, some with facilities, most with a cafe or bar, also, the panoramic trail from Sandinha to Gois, said to be one of the best off road routes in Portugal, is close by.
For connection to the wider world, the Medieval City of Coimbra is about an hour’s drive – there you will find main line rail services and long distance coach connections.
Airports at Porto and Lisbon can be reached in just over two and three hours, respectively.
The site is truly stunning, a deep valley, secluded and beautiful, the nearest urban area being 15 kilometers away. Whilst there are small communities nearer, any buyer considering full time occupation should, perhaps, be envisioning a self-contained,
Eco-centric or off grid way of life; if you are, the location is just what you want. However, if you are looking for a part time rural retreat, this little place could suit you equally well.
